Guess What

Guess what I've been up to today with a

pile of this...

and a pile of this

Have you guessed?

So as you can see I've had a jolly day washing 3 changes of bedding and a basketful of clothing. Thought it was going to be a glorious day for washing but oh no, mother nature had other ideas. The skies opened after the first load was on the line only 20 minutes. So, I dashed outside and do what I always do when it rains. Put up an umbrella. A rather large umbrella.

I always stick the umbrella over the washing if it looks like rain. It still dries but takes a bit longer. Luckily the rain stopped after about an hour and stayed dry for the rest of the day. I do have a dryer but it is very rearly used even in the winter because it is so expensive to run. In winter clothes are draped over an airer and left to dry in the dining room. A day of washing and ironing was as exciting as it gets for me today. Hope you had a more interesting day than me today.

  1. I like to dry clothes naturally too, and rain in Scotland has halted the past two days. Like you I often dry my clothing in doors, but it takes ages to dry taking up valuable space - so thank goodness for the sunshine.

PS It may not be an intersting day, but these tasks do need to be done, freeing up time to doing other things on other days.

  2. No rain here as we only have 2 seasons: The Wet and The Dry.

Presently it's the dry and dry it is. So our laundry dries in 30 minutes.

The wet is another story - it stays wet for days and sometimes goes mouldy...

  3. I don't use my dryer either. I used to have a great dryer which worked really well and really fast, then I had a new kitchen fitted and changed my old stand alone dryer for an integrated washer/dryer. It's useless. It takes ages to dry anything and costs loads to run. My house looks like a Chinese laundry some days with wet washing hung all over the place.

  4. My goodness I thought I had a lot of ironing. There's something very therapeutic about the monotony of ironing isn't there - or am I just kidding myself. Anyway it's a great feeling when it's all done.

  5. Thanks for all your comments. I hate ironing so this is the reason for such a large pile. When the girls are asking where all their clothes are I know it's time to knuckle down to some ironing lol

  6. Hello Karen,
Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. Mmmmm, washing and ironing, not one of my favourite chores either. Actually it's the ironing that doesn't get done. Much more interesting things to do like sewing, crochet, oil painting....
Hope you're having a lovely weekend,
    Anne xx
